چکیده

The articulatory configuration of an overtone singer is analysed with frequency analysis of the voice signal, sonographic visualisation of the tongue position, and analysis of the vocal tract impedance at the mouth. The biphonic character of the signal is observed in the spectrum plot. The sonographic analysis reveals a highly variable tongue position during production of a rising overtone. The high pitch of the produced biphonic sound is further analysed using the impedance technique. The extraordinary amplification of the melody pitch seems to be caused by the coincidence in frequency of two resonances. This findings support the theory that the overtone sound in sygyt style is a result of the filter effect of the vocal tract.

Sharp tuning in overtone singing by effectively employing anti-resonances

In overtone singing, a melody is produced by selecting an appropriate voice harmonic, one after another, while keeping the fundamental frequency constant. A specific harmonic is selected by changing the shape of the oral cavity which functions as a resonator corresponding to the formant used in vowel production. In addition, attenuation of particular frequency components by antiresonance of the...

Perceptual, auditory and acoustic vocal analysis of speech and singing in choir conductors.

BACKGROUND the voice of choir conductors. AIM to evaluate the vocal quality of choir conductors based on the production of a sustained vowel during singing and when speaking in order to observe auditory and acoustic differences. METHOD participants of this study were 100 choir conductors, with an equal distribution between genders. Participants were asked to produce the sustained vowel "é" ...

Analysis of acoustic features affecting "singing-ness" and its application to singing-voice synthesis from speaking-voice

To construct a natural singing-voice synthesis system, it is important to adequately control acoustic features such as fundamental frequency (F0), spectrum shapes, and phoneme duration in the synthesis method. This paper reveals acoustic features affecting singing-voice perception by comparative analyzing singingand speaking-voices, and then proposes a transforming method from speaking-voice in...

Perceptual and Acoustic Study of Voice Quality in High-Pitched Heavy Metal Singing

This paper studies high registers of heavy metal singing based on the voice profile analysis scheme (VPAS) and acoustic correlates. The f0 range varied from 366 to 666 Hz. The application of VPAS for singing is unique in the phonetic literature. Two professional and two amateur singers sang Iron Maiden’s Aces High with instrumental playback through headphones. Two very high-register excerpts we...

Control Methods of Acoustic Parameters for Singing-Voice Synthesis

To construct a natural singing voice synthesis system, it is important to adequately control acoustic parameters such as fundamental frequency (F0), phoneme duration, and spectrum information in the synthesis method, based on comparative analysis between spokenand singing-voices. This paper proposes a transformation from read speech into singing-voice using STRAIGHT. This method is composed of ...
